Samuel started teaching high school level science classes in 2017. He grew up in San Diego before moving to L.A. in 2010 and is a fan of both the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Lakers. He was part of the cross country, wrestling, and track teams at Madison High School. In his free time, he likes to watch science-related videos and describes himself as a little bit nerdy. He graduated from UCLA with a BS degree in Engineering in 2015 before receiving his Master of Education degree in STEAM from the University of San Diego.
